Mother's Day Portrait Sessions
Tulley's Tulip Farm, Hatton, Warwickshire
The experience
When I walked into the experience on it's opening day at Tulley's Tulip Farm, I was incredibly excited. I love outdoor portrait sessions, because they offer a chance for families to have fun, relax and naturally pose. The experience was set up as a mini festival in the middle of Warwickshire, which had so many activities on offer for families to have the best day out, that I knew I'd picked a great spot for these sessions. But when I saw the Tulip Field for the first time, it simply took my breath away. I experienced tingles knowing the photograph's I was about to take would have the most beautifully coloured, unique and vibrant backdrop, that the children would all love exploring. It was easy to navigate, large enough to have space without huge crowds, and accessible. It was perfect.
Session information
As the weather was unusually warm and bright for April, we chose shady spots when needed, and mixed the sessions up so that if one of the children needed a snack, or needed to run around, I would focus on the siblings or parents. I am flexible during any session and always go with the flow. Being a mum myself means that I am more than rehearsed in dealing with tantrums, refusals to pose and also, I know how long it can take a child to warm up to me and the idea of having their photograph taken. I'll do my very best to make conversation with your child and relax them, and make them laugh so they warm to me and feel comfortable! During these sessions, snacks, drinks, breaks and shade were needed and because of the one 1 hour session length, we achieved an amazing portfolio gallery for each family. Everyone enjoyed it, relaxed and were able to enjoy the experience either before or after we finished.
Future sessions
Most mini sessions I offer are 30-45 minutes in length depending on the session type. If it's a studio style set up, it may take longer as I'll have built in activities for the children to do. If it's an outdoor location, the session length will depend on the size. I'll specify this in the booking info!
The next mini sessions I will be holding will be on Saturday 5th July at Warwickshire Lavender Farm. Details will be released shortly!
Final thoughts
The most important thing for me to achieve with the Mother's Day Portrait Sessions at Tulley's was that mum was front and centre in the photos., as well as achieving whole family shots, dad shots and sibling/individual child shots. You'll see from the gallery that we achieved lots of different pose formations so that each family has their own unique blend of photographs tailored to what they wanted. Mum's often take the photos and may feature in a selfie from time to time - I know this, because that's me! So I am really pleased that we achieved so many photographs celebrating the special bond between mummy's and their little ones because time is fleeting, children change and grow rapidly and they'll never be this little again. So, we celebrated motherhood in the best possible way - timeless photographs, that can be printed, hung and serve as a reminder of the love between you.
